ULYSSES CLUB, YARRA RANGES BRANCH – CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 8:
From the President:
Was Johnny Cash singing of Isolation when he warbled,” I hear the train a comin', It's rollin' 'round the bend, And I ain't seen the sunshine, Since, I don't know when”?
It is clear that our members are looking forward to getting out of their homes, throwing the leg and seeing some kilometres put on their motorcycles but we must be cautious as we have not come out of the Coronavirus tunnel yet.
We are still in the midst of the pandemic.
As from the 11th of May, the State of Emergency within Victoria continues and has been extended to the 31st of May. Stage 3 Government Restrictions are still in place, and the Victorian Government’s advice is to stay home unless you are required for essential services work or education if this cannot be done at home, or if you are going to the Supermarket, Chemist, your Medical Clinic or Hospital or for local Exercise / Recreational Activities within Public Gathering guidelines or to visit family or friends. If you do need to go out, then please ensure you undertake gathering numbers, social distancing rules and personal hygiene.
For Outdoor Exercise / Recreational Activities of which Motorcycling is part, there is no restriction on travel distances, but people cannot stay overnight camping, in caravan parks or hotels so their movement is effectively limited.
Those members with pre-existing Medical Conditions who cannot afford to be struck down with this horrible virus will be reluctant to commence riding, some may remain cautious and consider it too early and there are those that may wish to ride in numbers greater than 10, and all those reasons are fine not to recommence riding.
There will be those members that wish to ride as soon as possible and that is fine also however any rides must be conducted within Public Gathering guidelines and no more than 10 participants. If members choose to go on a ride in a group, it is a personal decision for each of the participants and it will be their personal responsibility to behave in accordance with Government Restrictions, Social Distancing, and personal hygiene.
The Ulysses Club, Yarra Ranges Branch Committee will not be posting any official rides at this time on the Branch Facebook or Ride Calendar on the Webpage however we encourage all members to exercise and involve themselves in recreational activities for their health and wellbeing, but you must remain safe whilst engaging in your chosen pastime.
