Another ride report to the AGM...
Homer, Brin, Eric and I decided that we were not going to push ourselves at our ages. So, the four of us headed up to Bendigo on Tuesday afternoon. Stayed there the night and rode to Robinvale and stayed Wednesday night. Thursday we rode to Renmark, the last 100 ks in the rain.
We had a 8 berth, 3 bedroom riverside cabin at the big 4 in Renmark. Lovely big cabin with a great heater that we welcomed when we arrived there wet. Too wet and windy to go to the AGM site. We went to Woolies and stocked up on supplies for supper and breakfast and then hunkered down for the afternoon. We booked the bus from the Parminga Pub to pick us up all three nights we were there. We figured that was better than riding around at night. Terrific meals at the pub, then delivered back to the door of our cabin. Jean and guy ate with us on the Friday night at the pub.
On Friday morning, we went down to Berri and helped Guy unload his bike from the trailer. Then we all headed for the AGM. I was hoping to ride the latest Can-am, but they weren’t doing test rides. A large number of traders had left the site because of the weather. We looked around, had a great lunch in the food court and met up with quite a few Yarra Ranges people in the big tent while sheltering from the wind.
Saturday morning, we headed down to Macca’s for morning tea and to observe the Grand Parade. We had arranged to video Jean and Guy in the parade, which we did successfully. Had a look around Renmark for the rest of the day, then got chauffeured to the pub again for dinner.
Sunday morning, we headed toward home, staying at the same two motels that we had stayed on the way over. Tuesday lunchtime, we copped a bit of rain from Yarra Glen to home. But we all arrived OK without incident on either the way over or the way back. It really was a great eight day road trip.
