The first Thursday ride...

Well, the first Thursday ride has been run and won. And the winners were the seven riders and the two who accompanied us in the MG. The weather gods shone on us. We had only travelled about 1 km when the law ushered us all in for a breath test. Luckily all seven of us were able to ride out again.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I arrived at Brunch and saw David there all geared up and ready to go for his first club ride in many years. David is 87 and the oldest riding member in our branch. He regularly rides to Brunch on a Saturday morning but no further. When his wife passed away last year, it knocked him around for a fair while. But he resolved that he would get back into riding and now, today, he had that opportunity to go on a short and non-taxing ride with our group. And he did it well. Well done David. And that, there, is a prime example of the reason behind the short, easy Thursday rides.
