Twin Spurs - Saturday Ride - "Jamieson & Beyond"
Ride Leaser - Chris Collins TEC - Peter "V Strom" Ross
Due to the reefton Spur being closed for the day due to a motor racing event, we decided to do a lap of Lake Eildon instead.
We had 17 starters for this ride in glorious weather - The Eildon to Jamieson ride is probably best described as being difficult - 60 kilometres of tight bends and some very dodgy surfaces along the way. During our trip, we saw some poor female Harley rider (not with our group) trying to extract her bike from the scrub - she obviously unaware that Harley's and bends normally don't make good companions - Bike and rider a little scratched up.
Our first stop was the look out on the Eildon - Jamieson Road overlooking the Township of Jamieson and Eildon Dam - best described as spectacular and certainly worth the 60 k's of hairpins. From here, we rolled on into Jamieson for a very quick lunch stop - it's the most beautiful and peaceful little town.
With the troops fed, it was a short blast up to Mansfield where we stopped for some fuel - there were some nervous riders starting get a little twitchy over the state of their fuel tanks. It was an uneventful fling back to base camp but the beautiful scenery made it all a little less painful ! Thanks to TEC for keeping the troops together and in one piece! A total of 230k's with some amazing Ulyssians !
