Ride to Motorbike Expo in the Ride Calendar
For most this will be a pointless post but just to make it clear, I won't be leading a ride to the Motorbike Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds on Saturday, 29 November; as listed in the Ride Calendar. If it was just that I couldn't lead it, we have so many good ride leaders who would happily step up to take my place.
The normal corner marking process we have for getting everyone safely to and from destinations can't work safely on the route to the Showgrounds. Instead I encourage all who ride to the Expo, and I hope that is a large number within our Branch, to ride in groups of up to 4 where you look out for each other in the event of a breakdown or incident.
The route is straightforward as the Eastern Freeway continues in to Alexander Pde. It then continues over Flemington Road to a large roundabout in front of the Flemington Racecourse. Turn right there in to Epsom Rd and the Showgrounds will come up on your left. A slip lane to the left at the northern corner of the Showgrounds will take you to Langs Road, where free parking is reserved for motorcycles. The whole ride should take under an hour if starting from the Brunch café.
Don't forget to look up the Ulysses' stand as there is a pretty good chance you will meet somebody from our Branch attending it.
