Wednesday midweek ride to Emerald Lake - the long way.
Left home today in a foggy 3C to join the Magnificent Seven at Brunch. By 10:00am, and in clear weather Anna, Leafy, Toey, Rowan and myself followed Snake up Mountain Hwy with trusty Kelvin TEC.
We then headed through Belgrave via back roads and on through Narre Warren to the Princes Hwy. From there we rode East to the North Tynong exit where we followed Snake's new route North into the hills and ... to a subsequent goat track. However, it was a good dry and scenic goat track, as far as goat tracks go. Snake was going to test us. By now I was starting to think that Wed lunch might involve a camp fire and a search party. But after some tips from a lovely Triumph owning lady from Cardinia Council (Yes, as you ask, she was sensibly in a 4WD) we were soon back on the bitumen, heading past the Tonimbuk turnoff for Gembrook. This was via some fantastic scenery in beaut sunshine. Then on through Cockatoo to Emerald Lake for lunch and a quick look at Puffing Billy departing with a load of tourists.
Another great day out with top club people and some new roads. Thanks again Snake and everyone who came along.
