tried it!!
Did decide to go ahead as I was already at Pakenham when told it was off the winds had not picked up then Kevin was in his car (i was on bike) we decided to head off to Warragul country club for lunch at this stage it was not bad wind.
The return trip along the highway was horrible sever cross winds and inside my helmet there was alternate cursing and praying!! I stopped on the shoulder 4 times on the freeway back as you could not continue cars were struggling to hold their lane let alone bikes. Eventually a large cattle/sheep transport came onto the entry ramp and i thought righto here is my only chance and took off to get in behind him he could only do 80 km /hr as optherwise he would have toppled over! i could barely hold that but being behind him broke up the wind just enough to continue at 80km hr. it was seriously nasty eventually got back to my mums in ftg to park bike and the Belgrave hallam rd looked like 10 massive chainsaws and a few woodchippers had gone thru, there was debris everywhere it was dodge the trees and branches time.
Seriously will not be going out again if severe winds predicted interestingly i only saw one other bike on the whole journey a Ducati rider and he was seriously struggling too, normally they dont nod to me but he did i think to acknowledge we were both stupid!!

A good decision in hindsight: In that wind the 'roads less travelled' would have been a bit dangerous; one can assume that a lot of branches would have dropped.
We'll do it another day. I will talk seriously to my weather fairy - she needs to improve on her predictions and forecasts!
Safe Riding!

Re: Grand Ridge Brewery Ride Coming Sunday
Sorry, folks...ride was cancelled because of high winds and rain threatening before 'take-off'. Will have to try on another date.
(Funny, that - coming back home there was no rain and the sun came through at times...)

Hi to the ones who live in the 'hills' (Cockatoo, Berwick, Pakenham areas),
as discussed with some of you at The Brunch Cafe today, the best spot to catch up with the ride will be in Pakenham Upper, at the turnoff into Army Road, around 9.30 +++. Sheri, that might be best for you, too. (We will roll past slowly there.)

Re: Grand Ridge Brewery Ride Coming Sunday
Please remember to have a full tank when leaving The Brunch Café; that way we need only have one petrol stop (Mirboo North) - good for all bikes.
And: There will be a raffle for a prize or two, as well as for a good cause, I hope!
See you at 8.30 for an 8.45 start.

Grand Ridge Brewery Ride Coming Sunday
To start with, as arranged earlier in the year, the weather looks to be fine for our ride to Mirboo North. And other things will fall into place also.
See you Sunday!
Safe Riding!
