Re: Bruce in hospital
A quick note to say I am writing this from home and not on my phone in hospital. Now the real work begins. I will be pretty quiet for probably the next couple of weeks - I am surprised by what exhausts me - but then plan on turning up at Brunch for brief periods and definitely the Christmas party .... although I might sit out the Nutbush.
I want to photograph the Trophy because the camera doesn't weigh much. But I plan on holding off riding it until my rib cage is fully repaired for, as with any bike, I will instinctively try to stop it from tipping on the odd occasions when gravity works against a bike staying up and the thought of what would happen to a rib cage that hasn't knitted together yet is the stuff of nightmares . Riding it will be at least 3 months from the operation.
As previously stated, I am overwhelmed by the kindness of so many in the Branch; especially those who are so quick to volunteer to "take care" of the Trophy for me

Get better, live better and above all take care
Bruce, I havn't been on the forum for quite a while and this is the first thing that I saw. I am shocked to hear this but very glad that all has turned out well.
You have been given a coupon to a long and healthy life and should bless this. Now look after yourself, life is so fragile yet so incredibly stubborn and resilient.
This is a warning from nature that unfortunately many people don't get - Use this to your advantage ol' chum
I am so glad that you are OK!!!!
Cheers

Bruce Recovery
Hi Bruce, I just heard of your little "adventure" with Bypass surgery. Great that surgery is able to fix the primary issue and even better that you are doing so well, woose or not, recovering. It's easy for us to say "everything looks great" but I'm very sure that 'recovering well' and 'associated pain' go hand in hand when someone has taken the B&D to your chest bone. Don't cough, sneeze or laugh. ha. Ha Ha.
I look forward to seeing you and your portable sound system, very soon.

I will be in Chesterfield ward for a week with a room to myself of Knox private. Visitors are welcome but please remember I had surgery 2 days ago and they were still pulling pipes out of me this morning- not bad for a worse

Re: Bruce in hospital
Hi everyone,
We can't thank you all enough for your messages and calls and offers of help - although I have failed to pass on the offers to ride his bike We are both overwhelmed by your kind hearts and thoughtfulness.
Bruce has come through the surgery really well. When I visited him at lunchtime today they were getting him out of bed for the first time. He sat in the chair and ate a hearty lunch. He is looking really well and everything is going as it should.
He expects to be out of ICU late tomorrow (Friday) and will be able to see visitors. Just note that visitors are not permitted between 1.00pm and 3.00pm and it would be best to try to keep visits short. At this stage he looks like being in hospital for another week.

We were at Jindabyne when we got the news. On behalf of Bob & Kathy, Ferri & Anne Marie, Marjorie and myself I would
like to wish Bruce a speedy recovery. Bruce got the new bike and obviously the heart couldn't take it.
Sue, if you need any help over the next few weeks, all you need to do is ask.

Re: Bruce in hospital
Surprised and sorry to hear that a person with such a kind heart is having heart surgery.
Bruce, I wish you well with the operation and a speedy recovery.
From experience I know you will be in good hands at Knox Private Hospital.
Best wishes from Trevor and Keren.

Bruce in hospital
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Bruce from Ann and myself.
We are of course available to assist if required. Perhaps I could help by running in your new bike while you are recovering.
The last guy I worked with was a heavy smoker and not that fit, but came out after the operation going like a rocket, with much increased vigour and endurance.
So good luck. Bernie

Bruce in hospital
Hi everyone,
Just to let you know Bruce has had a bit of heart trouble and will be having bypass surgery on Wednesday. He is in Knox Private hospital. He is spitting chips because he won't be able to ride his new bike for at least 6 - 8 weeks.
It's anticipated he'll be in hospital for a week and I hear you don't feel real great for the first 48 hours after the op. He'll be in intensive care for that time after the op so only family will be able to visit. I'll try to keep you posted on his progress.
