McKillops Bridge
On a wet Friday night in November a few mates headed off towards Lake Tyres, hoping the rain would would stop.
We woke on Saturday morning to clear skies and made final preparations for our day trip to McKillops Bridge.
---
Stopping at Buchan, everybody topped up with fuel, before heading further North.
---
Taking a brief detour down the track to the Little River Gorge viewing platform is well worth it, because the view down to the river 300m below is spectacular.
---
The steep drop down to McKillops Bridge is twisty but great fun and the first glimpse of "the bridge" is a welcome sight.
---
To avoid hitting the odd coach bolt, crossing the planks on the bridge requires a bit of concentration!
---
It was good to see plenty of water flowing in the river.
---
The clockwise ride back to our base at Lake Tyres included lots of interesting river views and side tracks.
---
Coffee for the riders and fuel for the bikes was needed when we reached Orbost.
---
LOL - the beer at the Water Wheel pub in Lake Tyres tasted better than the coffee in Orbost!
---
After tea on Saturday night, nobody had any complaints about the cabin bunk beds.
---
The trek home on Sunday included a brief detour up the road towards Dargo (and back again LOL).
We reached home before tea, totally satisfied with a great weekend safely completed by all.
---
Thanks to Ken (VStrom), Andy (Husky), Bryan (BMW) and Mel (BMW)
Cheers,
