Re: Branch Cookbook?
Luverley couple of recipes to add to the collection. Thanks Mick and Steve.
I can take more recipes from anyone who would like to contribute. They don't have to be fancy - in fact tried and true recipes would make a perfect addition.

Rum Tort
Ingredients
1 packet of Chocolate ripple Biscuits
1 cup of Beenleigh Rum....what the heck.....2 cups of Beenleigh Rum
500 ml of thickened cream
1 Aero Bar
Whip the cream until quite thick and place some of the cream on a flat plate to hold the biscuits upright.
Take your first biscuit and dip it in the cup of rum fairly quickly, and stand it upright in the cream
Same process until all the biscuits are standing upright as if still in the packet.
Use the rest of the cream to cover the biscuits with a flat knife.
Grate the Aero bar over the top (or use a cherry ripe if you prefer)
Put in the freezer for 10 minutes, or at least until you have scoffed the remaining rum.

Bread & Butter pudding
Sue, I made this for Phill after they were talking about old recipes at Brunch. (He ate the lot by himself! greedy or what) Anyway Ingredients. 4 Eggs....2cups milk.....300ml pure cream.....1/4cupcaster sugar....1teaspoon vanilla extract....1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon.... 8 slices of bread ( I use Raisin Toast loaf) & I leave crusts on....40g butter(softened)....1/2 cup sultanas.... jam (I use rasberry/strawberry) of your choice..... Method Pre heat oven to180c/160c fan forced. Grease a 5cm-deep by 17cm by 28cm baking dish...... Whisk eggs, milk, cream, caster sugar, vanilla and cinnamon in a bowl.....Spread both sides of bread with butter& 1 side of each slice with jam ( much or little as you like. I like a lot )....cut each slice diagonally in half and arrange the bread (with peaks up) alternately like mountain tops in the prepared dish, sprinkle with sultanas..... Pour egg mixture over bread and bake for 30 to 35 mins or until golden and set... Serve and enjoy.. Regards Mick

Henri,
if I use as much alcohol as recommended in some of these recipes I won't be sober enough to get on a bike!

Re: Branch Cookbook?
Well there Sue,
If you are going to try out ALL these recipes, you may need to buy a bigger bike (haha)
I'll see if I can do one more.

MORE RECIPES!!
I've spent the afternoon copying and typing the recipes everyone has given me so far. They're brilliant! But I need MORE.
Honestly, the recipes are great and I'm looking forward to trying each of them. The stories and humour in them add that extra touch and will make this more than just a cook book.
So if you were thinking of putting in a recipe or two, now's the time to do it. Email them to me at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Re: Branch Cookbook?
Thanks for the reminder Placid. I have been thinking I need to get this started soon if there is going to be any chance of having a cook book done by Christmas.
If anyone wants to send me recipes for the cook book, send them to me at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
As well as the usual sections of 'ingredients' and 'method', don't forget to include the title of your recipe, your name, and perhaps a short paragraph about the recipe if it has a bit of a history.
Some suggested categories apart from the usuals of soup, mains, dessert etc. are: One Pot Wonders, Camping Recipes, My Favourite Bread/Toast Recipe (novelty section), Meals For One/Two. I'm open to other suggestions for categories too.
Okay... let's get this book under way!

Re: Branch Cookbook?
Just thought I'd give this a little bump up again.
This is the sort of thing we could share...
Baked Jam Roley-Poley
The roll;
• One and a half cups of S/R flour
• Pinch of salt
• 60 grams of butter or margarine
• 1 egg
• One third of a cup of milk
• Red jam
The syrup;
• Three quarters of a cup of sugar
• 60 grams of butter or margarine
• 1 cup of very hot water
Method;
1 Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and rub in the butter.
2 Beat the egg with the milk and blend into the dry ingredients to make a medium dough.
3 Turn out and knead lightly on a floured board.
4 Roll to an oblong shape and spread with the jam. Then roll up as for a swiss roll.
5 Place in a greased shallow casserole dish.
6 Make a syrup by combining all the syrup ingredients and stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Pour over the roll.
7 Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 45 minutes, basting occasionally with the syrup.
8 Cut into slices and serve with cream or custard.
Serves six

Baked beans & pineapple ???
I dunno ... baked beanz an pineapple sounds about the same as a burger with a pineapple ring included.
But I think you're correct ... doesn't sound all that great!

Year's ago I saw a movie/doco of a truckie doing the north west of WA roads. He had a great recipe of one burner stoves ...
One frypan and everything tossed in together, place on stove and see how it turns out. He included pineapple pieces with baked beans and such!!!

Re: Branch Cookbook?
Sounds like it could be a goer.
We were joking at a recent committee meeting about having some fun sections in the cookbook. K2 suggested favourite toast recipes! Could be a novel addition.

Branch Cook Book
Sounds like a great idea, it will be interesting to see the finished result. I'm all for quick recipes these days; I like to spend my time riding my bike not stuck in the kitchen.

Easy recipes for hungry and tired bikers?
I've got an easy recipe for stir fried prawns and vegetables that I find absolutely delicious and easy to cook - its cooked and ready to serve in 10minutes. The only difficulty is kicking the lady out of "her kitchen domain" to give myself room to get down to business LOL

I've got the recipe for my M-I-L's Jam Roley Poley.
It's to die for.
I'd be willing to let you have it.

Re: Branch Cookbook?
I have a contribution. The MALE perspective to get non-ccoks to do get of their ass. I wrote a few recipes in the past on theme. Simple, healthy eating for "Old Bastards" who haven't cooked in the past. I think it's important and I'm happy to help Sue.

Branch Cookbook?
I have been toying with the idea of creating a cookbook with members' favourite recipes, perhaps some photos of members here and there, and having it ready around Christmas time. Just wondering if this would be of interest?
If it was to go ahead, what kind of price would you be willing to pay and would you feel okay about paying a little extra on top as a bit of a fundraiser? My initial thought is that any profit could go to UCARF, although the committee may want some input on that.
Your thoughts?
