Ride Report - Alexandra Truck Show
A chilly but clear morning greeted us at Brunch cafe for a 9.30 start for approx a dozen brave souls. Traffic was favourable as we ventured up to Healsville via Lilydale and Coldstream. I have it on good authority that Mark Rattle lost his reading glasses around Chandon and Sherie & Tracey Collins did their best to miss the wayward load. We arrived at Healsville at the meeting place but their was no one there....I totally forgot the fact that their may have been members in the bakery.....(Presidential apologies). Our first hiccup was in the Blackspur where we had to wait for approximately 10 minutes as their were urgent roadworks. The next stop was at Buxton for Griffo's bladder....at was at this stage that we met up with other riders that had been at the Healsville bakery....we took off again bound for Alexandra and into the Fog & mist....as we climbed into the hills around Alexandra, the temperature dropped and the visibility was reduced to a few hundred meters. Finally, we arrived at Alexandra and the parking was hard work...the group became spilt up but this was the same as previous years! The Event at Alexandra was simply amazing....trucks big, bigger and even bigger. At one stage, I asked the Mercedes Benz representative for a price on the big Prime mover...it was a little out of my price range at $270k.....Just for the prime mover. We also were lucky enough to see some wood chopping, wood carving with a chainsaw and lots of different style of cars....Overall, a really good day. Thank you to Peter Ross for being TEC. Unfortunately Tom & Sue's bike failed to make it to the starting line with a possible suspect alternator!
