RIDE TO LUNCH @ RUFFY PRODUCE STORE - SEAN'S 1ST!!
RIDE TO LUNCH @ RUFFY PRODUCE STORE
We gathered in Yarra Glen on a blue sky Sunday morning to follow Sean Stevenson to lunch at Ruffy Produce Store. 11 bikes and a Can Am travelled via Break O’day and Whittlesea roads to Yea for a cuppa & a pit stop and “see ya” to Gavin & Amanda who had do some other stuff – great motorbike weather! Sean then set off towards Seymour and turned right at Ghin Ghin Road which is a beaut ride when there’s no cars around – through Highlands and the booming hamlet of Caveat (I reckon it only needed 1 census form!), left onto Ruffy Road (for most of us apart from scottish Bill on his Can Am) and Bob’s ya uncle, there we were at the Produce Store.
Yesterday’s soup and the Ruffy burger featured strongly as lunch choices and the banter was lively. After the traditional group photo outside, it was tally ho & off to Yarck and down Maroondah Highway to Yea. Most of us were heading back to Yarra Glen so we set off down the Melba for the routine run home - WRONG!! 14 kms down the Highway and we come across a long queue of stationary cars and we were hemmed in to the left lanes by the experimental Wire Rope Barrier in the middle of the Melba. Peter Ross did a recce by sneaking up the emergency lane to find that a significant accident had blocked the road, and he duly reported back to the group. So we all snuck up the emergency lane to the end of the WRB, chucked a Uey and went back to Yea to return to Yarra Glen via the Whittlesea & Break O’day roads.
A great day in great company doing what we all love – Thanks and well done, Sean.
The following photos were taken by Andrew Degenhardt (Degzi) & Chris Collins - thanks.
