CAPE SCHANCK LIGHT HOUSE

Post by JOHN ECKHART (FONZE) on Sun Jan 17 2016, 22:36

Bloody great  .. that sums up todays ride to Cape Schank lighthouse.   25 members left Brunch at 0930, pick up Eka along Stud Rd and
3 more guests at Cranbourne south (my son Craig and 2 of his mates all taking their Harleys for a day out)   Nice ride down to Hastings where Amanda, Nick, Leafy and Homer went shopping for our lunch supplies - while the others enjoyed a coffee break.
Onto Flinders, great road and ocean views and then to the lighthouse.  A million others were already there for race event, but the
kindly staff at the National Park were waiting for us to enter via our own private gate, and into the 'stable' where table, chairs and
a BBQ were waiting for us.  Stewy assisted by Mark accepted the cooking challenge and the rest enjoyed the guided tour of the
Museum and the climb up to the top of the lighthouse.  The staff could not do enough for us and their friendly and informative approach
was second to none.
A cruise through the hills to the top of Arthurs Seat and Red Hill completed the  run with a stop at Macca's for a cool drink / icecream where we dispersed for the day.
Thanks to Homer as TEC for his assistance and role as pack horse. He was rewarded by being given the honour of having Sean's
daughter as pillion for the trip home
We each put in $5.oo for the BBQ lunch and drinks - which left us with a surplus -  as a novel idea we drew a raffle and the winner
received the surplus ....  Leafy was lucky enough to walk away with $27.oo
Great day .. great location .. and extra great company
My thanks to all who enjoyed the day
It makes the effort and time put into planning these events worthwhile
Cheers ..  FONZ
